Discover our unique history within our beautiful building

Our History…..

The Carnegie Center for the Arts stands as a noble tribute to art in architecture and a cherished local landmark in historic downtown Dodge City. This distinctive two-story brick building showcases turn-of-the-century flair and represents a remarkable piece of American history as one of the 1,679 public libraries constructed with assistance from steel magnate Andrew Carnegie. Originally serving as an Andrew Carnegie Library, this community gift has been thoughtfully preserved and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Visit to learn about Andrew Carnegie and his Libraries. Our building was Carnegie Library originally. We will tell you all the details of this building. Built in 1907, lots has happened.
